The OHMAD Boosters help provide an extremely important service to the Oxford Hills community. They exist to support the fine arts for the K-12 students in the eight-town community. They do this by providing supplemental fine arts materials/supplies, scholarships to fine arts camps and programs during the summer, bus transportation for performing groups, and many other needs as requested and voted on.
The Boosters will do almost anything, if it means supporting and promoting the fine arts for the children! For example, they have provided intermission refreshments for OHMPAA's eight drama performances. They actually just did cakes for the 'Damn Yankees' musical!
They also respond to financial requests as it relates to the arts. Some examples of what they have funded are:
- Transportation costs for bussing every fourth grader in the district to the Portland Symphony Orchestra in October.
- Some of the costs associated with Music, Art and Drama Awards Night at OHCHS in May.
- And until recently, the annual Charter Membership cost for the MSAD #17 Chapter of the Tri-M Music Honors Society.
They also like to have fun while trying to make their presence known in the community! One of the ways they have done this was by marching in the Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade in 2010. They even won first place for the non-profit division!
Their meetings are held every first Wednesday of the month in the music room at 6:30 pm, unless otherwise posted. Please feel free to join them.
